The most people hear about vitamin D is when they see it on a milk jug at the grocery store. Today we’ll give you a brief summary on what vitamin D is and what it can do for you.

While it’s not highly supplemented, vitamin D is known as a steroid-hormon. It’s the most versatile with the exception of cholesterol. The main source of vitamin D is radiation such as sunlight. If you’re always on beach, most likely you don’t need to supplement it. However, if you’re in an area with a lot of rain or heavy winters, you should consider supplementing it.

Vitamin D is good for your body because it can regulate the phosphorus balance in the body and helps maintain the heart muscle and maintains healthy nerves. It also increases the absorption and use of calcium, maintaining healthy bones. It’s the main reason vitamin D is so essential to bodybuilders, to protect against weak and fragile bones.

Vitamin D also stimulates the thyroid and helps in blood clotting.
